From the Daily Herald:
Hello,
The Daily Herald hopes you’ll complete the following candidate questionnaire at https://forms.gle/KqAwzaM1XzMZXCyU9 by Friday, Jan. 27. We plan to publish your responses online and in print and also may use them in our ongoing reporting. In addition, our editors expect to consult with your questionnaire when preparing for endorsement interviews and in reviewing your candidacy for endorsement.
Please also email a head-and-shoulders image of yourself suitable to publish with our coverage of your candidacy to elections@dailyherald.com. Smartphone selfies are acceptable. We prefer jpegs with the highest resolution available to you. If you are submitting a professional photo, please make sure you have the photographer’s permission for us to publish it.
Please keep the following in mind:
1.) Answers should be no more than 1,000 characters (approximately 200 words); we maintain the right to trim answers to that length if they run longer, even if it means cutting an answer in mid-sentence.
2.) A portion of this questionnaire is for biographical information. Some of it will be published as you submit it, but much of it is for our internal research and we do not intend to publish it as a standing element to our candidate bios.
3.) Information we do NOT intend to publish in your candidate bio includes:
· Your street address (We would not publish this under any circumstance);
· Any phone numbers (We would not publish this under any circumstance);
· Your gender (although if pertinent, we may refer to it in our coverage);
· Your racial background (This will not be part of your formal bio. We need it only for articles we may do on the diversity of candidates in the suburbs; if pertinent, it’s possible we may refer to your racial background in a broader article like that);
· Your arrest record (This will not be part of your formal bio, but depending on your answer, we may question you about this and it is possible that if it is pertinent, we may report on it);
· Your relationships to other office holders (This will not be part of your formal bio, but it is possible that if it is pertinent, we may report on it elsewhere.)
Thank you for your time.
